Location and geographical features
Fukutsu City is located in the north of Fukuoka Prefecture, close to both Fukuoka and Kitakyushu cities, neighboring Munakata City to the northeast, Miyawaka City to the southeast, and Koga City to the south, and Genkai Sea to the west.The land of the city is bordered by mountains on the east and by the sea on the west. Mountainous woods along the coastal area and around Miyajidake Shrine were registered as "Genkai National Park" in 1956, boasting its natural and scenic beauty. As for transportation services, JR Kagoshima Line railroad and Route 3 runs from east to west, and Route495 runs along the coastal line. Moreover, having close access to both Wakamiya and Koga Interchange of Kyushu Expressway, our city is full of transportation convenience. Backed by these geographical features, Fukutsu City has merits as a tourism and recreational area including Miyajidake Shrine,Tsuyazaki and Fukuma coast. It is a residential area offering convenience to commuters to Fukuoka or Kitakyushu City, and a production area for fresh food. |

Warmed by Tsushima Ocean Current, it is comparatively warm even in the winter. Making use of the climate feature, vegetables are produced in plastic green houses.
