The school lunch processing center is located in the site of Tsuyazaki Junior High School. Processing facilities, serving lunches for 3 public schools in ex-Tsuyazaki area, are on the first floor, and on the second floor is a lunch room "sky room," where all of the students of Tsuyazaki Junior High School can get together during lunch time.
■Lunch processing facilities(1st floor)
At the lunch processing facilities on the first floor, all the lunches for Tsuyazaki Primary School, Katsuura Primary School and Tsuyazaki Junior High School are processed here. Maximum capacity is 1,300 lunches per day, and lunches for two primary schools are delivered by a truck.
Vegetables are provided by "Anzu-no-sato", where local crops are gathered. Deciding menu, purchasing and checking food is controlled by official nutrition experts; however, cooking and washing dishes is done by a private sector.
We are very careful about sanitation. Putting sanitation on the top of our list, we check uniforms (checking caps, masks or clothing of staffs) and wash hands (before starting cooking, when processing meat or before delivering foods). Moreover, in addition to the former activities of daily, monthly and annual clean-up and sterilization, we have adopted "Dry Method" of keeping the floor of facilities dry, so that the secondary infection may not be occurred.
■Lunch room(Nick name:"Sky Room" on the 2nd floor)
On the 2nd floor, the students of Tsuyazaki Junior High School can take lunch. With 500 seats arranged neatly, all the students can be easily accommodated. At the glass-plated balcony of the southern side of the building, they can enjoy lunch in a sunny and an open atmosphere.
At the junior high school, lunches are usually taken at this lunch room. The room has an easy access from the other school buildings, connected by corridors or stairways. And, it gives an easy access also to the handicapped by equipping hand rails to stairways, a multi-purpose toilet in a restroom, and the corridors are designed so that a wheelchair lift can be equipped in the future. The room can be used also as a communication space between the students with the local residents.
