Kompira Shrine

Last update: April 1, 2009

A god of Agriculture is enshrined on the top of Tengaizan mountain or Araji mountain. Daimyo Gyoretsu is also visible here.
It is located at the upper Tengaizan mountain or Araji mountain in the east of Araji area. According to a record of the shrine, enshrined gods are Omononushi-no-kami, Ojin Emperor, Nintoku Emperor, Jingu Empress, Onamuchi-no-Mikoto and Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto Owatatsumi-no-Mikoto. And moreover, according to "Appendix to Chikuzen Shoku Fudoki" or an ancient Japanese history book, gods may respond to your prayer for the sun, the rain or safety of your cattle and horses, or your own safety.
On September 9, the first Autumnal festival in Chikushi province is held, celebrating abundant harvest of all crops, with Daimyo Gyoretsu or Samurai parade proceeding to Okariya in Tsuyazaki. People get to know that autumn has come with this festival.
