
Three gods of Jingu Empress, Katsumura Okami and Katsuyori Okami are enshrined. Many people gather here to pray for business success, transportation safety and family safety.
"Oshimenawa" or a giant straw rope, decorated at main building of the shrine, is the largest in Japan, with 13.5-meter length, 2.5-meter diameter and 5-ton weight. Also, a giant bell and a giant Japanese drum, exhibited in shrine site, are the largest in Japan.
"Okunomiya Fudo Shrine", located at the very rear of the shrine site, is a large ancient tomb, with 23-meter-length stone-made cavity. Each stone has as large as 5 meters length and width. From inside of the cavity, 300 pieces of horse related apparatus, swards and ornaments, and stone jewelry were excavated, among which more than ten pieces had been officially enrolled as national treasures. Autumn festival is held from September 9th to 23rd every year. On the first day of the festival, a line of gorgeously dressed people, associating dresses of mediaeval Japanese royal families, travels to Miyajihama, praying abundant harvest of all the crops and fishery. In the shrine site, species of flowers are planted, such as winter cherry blossoms, cherry blossoms, a peach tree, a wisteria, a tree peony and so on. Especially in late-May, 50,000 of an Edo iris of 100 species bloom. The shrine is famous also for its flower beauty.
